Originally from a small town in upstate New York, Cheyanne first moved to North Carolina when her competitive swimming career took her to Wingate University. There is where she first learned about her passion for helping others in the fitness industry as she obtained her B.S. in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology. She received her M.S. in Health Promotion from the University of Mississippi. Over the past several years, she has served in a variety of different roles in the fitness industry including Fitness Director at SHED Fitness in Oxford, MS, General Manager at Workout Anytime in Hickory, NC, Associate Director of Fitness, Wellness and Aquatics at High Point University before landing in her current role as Director of Fitness, Health, and Wellness at the Greensboro Country Club. Through the variety of roles she has held, and cities she has lived in one thing that always remained constant was her love for doing and coaching CrossFit.
In 2013 as Cheyanne was working hard on accomplishing her dream to become a college swimmer her mom encouraged her to start lifting weights. She started working with a personal trainer but wasn’t a huge fan of it. A few months later she made friends with some teenagers in the gym that did CrossFit. She started training with them each morning, and then decided in 2014 to become a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer. Throughout college she struggled to find a gym that she could fall in love with, so she began focusing on Olympic Lifting under renowned coach Daniel Rose at Harrisburg Weightlifting Club. Not only did she train there as an athlete but as a coach, and he motivated her to get her USAW Level 1. When she moved to grad school in Mississippi, she quickly found a gym she could fall in love with where she could coach and train. For the few years in between grad school and finding CrossFit Fire Pit, Cheyanne struggled to make her personal health a priority.
Since joining the Fire Pit as an athlete, Cheyanne has seen her days get brighter, her happiness level increase, her motivation increase, and so much more. You might think that it is from the addition of regular exercise back into her life, but she believes most of these benefits truly come from the awesome people she gets to surround herself with at the Fire Pit. Every athlete and every coach have impacted her life in the best way possible.
